Ian has had over 25 years of banking experience across a broad range of disciplines including business banking at a regional and corporate level in Australia (Adelaide Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia) with a strong agribusiness focus. Ian also brings with him considerable expertise in international investment banking.  This includes Australian Industry Development Corporation: Sydney, Citibank and Toronto Dominion Bank in Toronto, Canada: Canada; Toronto Dominion Bank, Deutsche Bank & Warburg Dillon Read in London: UK.  Ian also guided London’s UBS fixed income and derivative team through the Euro Conversion process in 1999.

Ian grew up on a 28,000 acre sheep station near Hay running 15,000 merino sheep and 1,000 acres of irrigated cereal and oilseed cropping.  Secondary education was concluded at the Kings School (Sydney) and his tertiary qualifications include a Bachelor of Resource Economics (1st Class Honors) from the University of New England; Grad Diploma in Finance & Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia; and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from the Charles Sturt University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ian’s personal life journey has been enriched by his cultural, humanitarian, environmental and adventurous fascination.  Ian has lived with Berber tribal groups of North Africa and Maasai in East Africa, Bedouins in the Middle East and Inuits of Greenland.  He has planted over 60,000 trees reclaiming bog lands of Ireland, worked with missionaries in Gelai, Kenya and travelled overland over 10,000 miles from the Tuktoyaktuk in the northern tip of Canada to the southern tip of South America (Cape Froward, Chile).  Ian successfully completed an unsupported 160km traverse in Greenland from the inland ice to the remote village Sisimiut in -20 degree temperatures. He ventured to climb the Seven Summits, the highest mountain on each of the world’s seven continents.  Successful climbs to date include Kosciusko (Australia 7,316 feet), Mt Elbrus (Russia / Europe 18,512 feet), Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa 19,341 feet), Mt McKinley (Alaska / Nth America 20,320 feet) and Mt Aconcagua (Sth America 22,841 feet).

Although Ian’s worldwide adventures are not yet completed, he now directs more energy into his wife and two children.

Ian co-founded and is a director of Robinson Sewell Partners; an Agribusiness Debt Advisory firm.  Ian has personally settled in excess of $1.0 billion of transactions over his professional career.  He is passionate about corporate finance and agribusiness investment. These combined areas of expertise give Ian a competitive edge in providing successful financial services and executing investment strategies to his corporate client base.
